Representative Rick Rand Files for Re-election in House District 47

Frankfort, KY –Representative Rick Rand of Bedford, Kentucky today filed for re-election to the Kentucky House of Representatives. A top leader on budgets and the economy in the General Assembly, Rep. Rand has served the people of the 47th House District since 2003. He served as Appropriations & Revenue Chairman in the House for eight years.

“There is much work to do in Frankfort with regard to the budget, protecting pension and tax reform,” said Rep. Rand. “I will continue to be a strong voice for fiscal responsibility while funding education, workforce development, agriculture and public protection.” Rep. Rand passed legislation in 2016 for the Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship program which pays tuition for short-term, career-related certificates in fields where there are good paying jobs readily available.

Growing up on his family’s farm, Rep. Rand serves on the Agriculture Committee and also on Transportation, State Government and on the Budget Review Subcommittee on Primary & Secondary Education and Workforce Development. Rick Rand has been a champion during his time in the legislature for education and has fought to protect the SEEK funding formula in every budget for schools in his district.  He helped to secure the necessary commitments for the purchase of land and for the construction of the new Jefferson County Community & Technical College campus in Carrollton, as well as the funding and construction of the Milton Madison Bridge in Milton KY. Rep. Rand is an owner of his family business, Rand Insurance & Real Estate.
